FOFILM is in London, Los Angeles, Brussels, and soon Bangkok. Its movies reflect the Fofilm staff—elegantly presented, somewhat compulsive, unpredictable, crankish, dark and reclusive. But entertaining.

A Los Angeles film, Fishing for Piranhas, is just underway while we prepare an ambitious production in North Africa. It's scheduled to be followed by a Belgian-India film about the last days of Madame Blavatsky.

Meanwhile, an all-zombie cast
is being dug up in Europe for Modern Families, a complex, sensitive view of life beneath.

Fofilmmakers

The driving forces behind Fofilm begin with the work of executive producers who finance the films, and continue with producers and writers, including Kent Smith, Bill Haugse, Tom Smith and other above-the-line mavens.

Fofilm staff boast Academy Award nominations and production responsibilities on some of the most successful films in recent years.

Fofilm's filmmakers have solid careers across the spectrum of Hollywood and European production, including writing, directing, producing, editing, and distribution, for companies including Universal Studios, Lucasfilm, Warner Bros., and Disney Productions, along with smaller studios and boutique houses.

On the European front, a number of younger filmmakers and designers are becoming involved with our work, all with significant credits in feature, commercial, and independent films.

They are joined by Ronald Kipling in Brussels, Producer Extraordinaire; Joseph Matesevac in New York, Minister of Sales; Jeremiah Bok in San Francisco, Story Department; Charlie Hunter, counselor, advocate, and Keeper of the Syllabus; and other accounting and guild specialists at the business offices.

Distribution Side

The principals of Fofilm-Europe Ltd., the company's overseas distribution arm, have strong backgrounds in studio and independent distribution. The division is headed by Joseph Matesevac, brought from professional duties at Paramount Pictures Corp and Westinghouse Broadcasting.

The distribution strategy for all titles is planned from the beginning of production, and sometimes even preceeds the script.

”It's lunacy to promote the movie you wish you had made instead of making that movie to begin with” (pace Robert Redford). That's why Fofilm puts a premium on aligning the promotional team's work with the director's vision, right from the start.

For large, star-driven films, US domestic rights are necessarily handled by the domestic distribution industry, whose expertise is unparalleled. Other rights are handled in-house or are contracted separately by language, then media.

All Fofilms have major roll-outs in the markets at Cannes, Berlin, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Los Angeles,.

Fofilm movies may be rousing to contemplate, but there's a sober business plan sitting not far off. Our privately financed productions are made for US and international audiences, using a tight worldwide release strategy as a springboard.
